Monkey Typing Test by MonkeyTyping is a free typing speed test that measures your WPM, raw WPM, accuracy and consistency in real time. Choose a 15, 30 or 60 second test, practise with quotes, scripts and numbers in 50 languages, and play typing games, all with no signup. Every result is calculated in your browser, so a run starts instantly and nothing has to be downloaded.
Use the test to find out where you stand, then move into the practice tools below to build raw speed, accuracy and keyboard familiarity. Repeat runs in the same mode make small improvements easy to spot.
- Typing speed measured live in WPM, raw WPM, accuracy and consistency

Free Typing Test for WPM
WPM means words per minute. One word is counted as five keystrokes, so a test averages out your typing over a fixed amount of text rather than counting words literally. A free typing test for WPM gives you that number instantly, together with raw WPM, accuracy and consistency.
Accuracy matters as much as speed. Typing quickly with mistakes still leaves you slower in real use, because you have to go back and fix errors. The result panel shows accuracy and consistency next to WPM so you can tell whether a fast run was also a clean one.
A timed typing test works by showing you a passage and starting a countdown. You type as much as you can before the time runs out, and the app works out your speed from the characters you entered. Because every test uses the same rules, two runs in the same mode are directly comparable.
Repeated practice is what actually raises your typing performance. Each run shows which mode you are strongest in, and the practice tools below let you target the weak parts: listening and sentences, vocabulary, keyboard patterns, or a full game session.
Whether you are looking for a typing speed test to benchmark yourself, a WPM test to check on a month of progress, or a free word per minute typing test before a job application, the same measurement applies.
Practice Typing in 50 Languages
The language selector in the config bar lists 50 languages, including English, German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Urdu, Hindi and Arabic. The count is read from the application configuration, so this page stays correct if a language is added or removed.
Word banks per language
Word banks are loaded per language on demand, so switching language does not block the test. Words are drawn from the selected language rather than translated on the fly.
Quotes and scripts
44 of the 50 languages also ship quote and script content for Quote and Script mode. The remaining six (Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam and Ukrainian) have full word banks, so they remain selectable for the standard test.
Practice With Quotes and Scripts
Typing the same short passage over and over stops being useful fairly quickly. MonkeyTyping provides different scripts and quotes for typing practice, and the amount of material depends on the language you select.
A large language such as English carries roughly 5,000 scripts, Spanish about 2,000, and languages including Arabic and Bengali about 1,000 each. Many of the remaining languages ship around 300. Availability varies by language rather than being identical across the board.
Because the material differs between runs, you get a different passage each time. That is the point: varied content exercises more of the keyboard and more of your vocabulary, instead of memorising one short sample.
- Open Script mode from the search button and browse what is available for your language
- Quote lengths range from short to large
